About Digital Creator & Director Javan Cornelius

Born in Seattle, Washington, Javan Cornelius started as a young film producer after winning many art and creative contests. His winning streak continued as he was awarded grants from WGBH Boston while attending Oakwood University. Those wins continued to fuel his passion for a career in the arts.

They also cemented the idea that working as a full-time independent filmmaker was possible. Accordingly, Shoeshine Media Studios was born. The name was adopted from his time working as a shoe shiner in a Nordstrom department store. Since the inception of Shoeshine Media Studios, the award-winning digital creator and independent producer has worked with experts whose talents span a range of industries like entertainment, religion, education, and corporate leadership.

Some clients include Public Broadcasting Service (PBS); Melody Shari, reality personality and executive producer of the Oprah Winfrey Network’s Love and Marriage: Huntsville; Martell Holt, reality personality and executive producer of the Oprah Winfrey Network’s Love and Marriage: Huntsville; Dr. Eric Thomas, the hip hop preacher; Dr. Carlton P. Byrd, president of the Southwest Region Conference Association of Seventh-day Adventists; Nickelodeon in partnership with AVO Communications; The CW Network, and a host of other organizations and television and digital media outlets.

Additionally, Javan served as director of photography for an episodic show on Paramount Plus. He was also contracted to travel with Jeremy Anderson, founder of Next Level Living, to film 37 documentaries across ten countries.

While Javan is focused on helping his clients become master storytellers by using cutting-edge video content, he is also intent on opening the door for a new generation of creatives seeking filmmaking opportunities. He knows that their creative careers can grow beyond what they imagine. So, he wants to help them build the confidence and skill set to get there. When Javan is not working or mentoring, he looks forward to spending time with his beautiful wife, Chasati, and their three children.
